We cannot say enough incredible things about Lucas and his team! We were so lucky to work with Lucas twice for engagement photos and on our wedding day. Both times he had the best energy and excitement over our locations which resulted in some of the most incredible photos we’ve ever seen. Lucas is incredibly responsive and professional, willing to make recommendations and also take suggestions to get the shots you want. On top of that, he’s insanely fast and provided so many incredible teasers during our brief waiting time after our wedding. On top of our photos, Lucas offered us chance to live stream our ceremony, connecting family and friends from all around the world and allowing them to be a part of our special day - a truly priceless addition to our package. Ancaster Mill offers several event spaces to accommodate different wedding sizes. The Falls Room is the largest, seating up to 190–200 guests, while the Governor’s Room seats up to 130. For more intimate celebrations, the 1812 Room (70 guests) and the Millview Room (100 guests) are popular options.
Are there both indoor and outdoor ceremony options?
Yes. The venue is famous for its two distinct chapels:
The Miller’s Chapel (Indoor): A picturesque hilltop chapel with arched timber trusses, a large stone fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The Streamside Chapel (Outdoor): An open-air "New England" style chapel tucked along the side of the escarpment and the stream, offering a natural, airy backdrop.
Where are the best locations for wedding photos on the property?
Ancaster Mill is remarkably photogenic and easily one of our favorite locations to shoot at Lucas T Photography. The top spots for wedding portraits on the property include the dramatic waterfall right beside the main building, the historic millstone, and the venue's striking stone architecture.
Is there overnight accommodation on-site?
No. Ancaster Mill does not have guest rooms or overnight accommodations on-site. However, there are many nearby hotels and charming Bed & Breakfasts in Ancaster and Hamilton, many within a 5–10 minute drive, that are commonly used for wedding guest blocks.
How many weddings take place at the same time?
Because Ancaster Mill has multiple distinct event buildings and rooms, it is common for more than one wedding to occur on the same day. However, the venue is expertly managed so that each wedding has its own private entrance, dedicated staff, and separate areas to maintain an intimate atmosphere.
