Scarborough Wedding Photography Tips
Scarborough offers dramatic natural beauty with its Bluffs, as well as historic elegance and lush parkland at locations like the Guild Inn Estate. Specializing in weddings across the GTA, we bring our artistic vision and experience to the vibrant backdrops of Scarborough, ensuring your memories are captured with timeless elegance and authentic emotion
Leverage the Scarborough Bluffs:
Dramatic Scenery: The towering white cliffs and stunning views of Lake Ontario provide a breathtaking, unique backdrop. Tip: Early morning or late afternoon (golden hour) light can be spectacular, casting warm tones on the cliffs and water.
Perspective is Key: Experiment with wide shots to capture the grandeur of the bluffs and close-ups to highlight the textures of the cliffs and the vastness of the lake.
Safety First: Remind yourselves and your wedding party to stay on marked paths and respect any safety warnings, as cliff edges can be unstable.
The Historic Guild Inn Estate:
Architectural Diversity: This estate is a treasure trove of photographic opportunities with its historic ruins, stunning gardens, and the elegant Guild Inn itself. Tip: The stone ruins offer a dramatic, almost European feel, while the manicured gardens provide classic romantic settings.
Vary Your Backdrops: Move between the formal gardens, the unique sculptural elements, and the historic buildings to create a diverse photo album.
Lighting at Guild Park: The open spaces can be beautifully lit, but be mindful of harsh midday sun. Seek out shaded areas or use diffusers/reflectors to soften the light.
Green Spaces and Trails: Scarborough has numerous parks and green spaces. Don't overlook smaller, less-known spots for intimate, natural portraits.
Permit Requirements: Like other City of Toronto parks, the Scarborough Bluffs and Guild Park & Gardens often require permits for formal wedding photography. Ensure you check with the City of Toronto's Parks, Forestry & Recreation department well in advance.
General Tip for All Locations:
Scout Ahead: If possible, visit your chosen photography locations at the same time of day as your planned shoot. This allows you to assess the light, identify potential challenges (construction, crowds), and discover hidden gems for photos.
Communicate with Your Photographer: Discuss your vision and priorities for each location with your photographer. They can offer valuable insights and help create a seamless plan for your wedding day photography.
