Where is the best location for our photography session in toronto?


Having grown up in Toronto, I have come to know many of its nooks and find myself being asked this by many clients. Whether its for an engagement, wedding or just a portrait session, here is a list of options in and around the Toronto area and they're corresponding photography permits.



Osgoode Hall Photography permit


Features: A stunning 1800’s historic building, with colorful manicured gardens,

cobblestone pathways and ornate iron fencing. Location: Queen and University

Streets Permit: No permit required, however, be sure there are no events or filming

scheduled.

Knox College Photography


Features: Charming old architecture on a beautifully landscaped campus. Use is limited

to certain areas, but those areas are the best!. Click here to view a recent wedding that had their photos done at Knox College.

Casa loma photography permit


Features: This famous castle provides a spectacular setting. Access to the conservatory,

terrace and gardens are all available. Location: 1 Austin Terrace (near Bathurst and

DuPont) Permit: $800 for 2hrs depending on time of day. Phone: 416.923.1171

Distillery district photography


Features: historic distillery built in 1832. Cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways, and old

brick buildings make a unique background for interesting photos Location: Mill St.

(Between Parliament St. and Cherry St.) Permit: $250.00 and picked up at PIKTO Phone: 416.364.4793

The Old Mill Photography Permit


Features: Historic building with a beautiful waterfall and landscaped gardens. Location:

21 Old Mill Road Permit: Permission normally required. Phone: 416-236-2641. Can only

take pictures if the wedding ceremony takes place here.

Union Station Photography


Features: One of the largest and most opulent train stations in Canada, with fascinating

old architecture, both inside and out. Location: 65 Front Street West (at Bay

Edward Gardens photography permit


Features: Similar to James Gardens, but larger with a fountain and a staircase. Edwards

Gardens website Location: 777 Lawrence Ave E, Toronto Permit: $50-$100 per

Cherry beach photography permit


Features: Situated on Lake Ontario (East end of Toronto), featuring Sandy beach,

wooded areas and a boardwalk. Location: at the south end of Cherry St.

Permit: None required

Features: Situated on Lake Ontario (West end of Toronto), featuring sandy beach,

parkland & trees, and walkways Location: Lakeshore Rd. and South Kingsway

Alexander Muir Gardens photography


Features: Situated next to a ravine, beautiful sunken gardens, treed walkways, benches,

stone wall & stairs Location: Yonge St. & Lawrence Ave. Permit: $80.00

GuiLD Park and gardens photography permit


Features: Situated near the Scarborough Bluffs, Guild Park (Guildwood Park) is right behind The Guild Inn which has come online as a wedding venue a few years back. Features one of a kind statues and columns taken from downtown Toronto at the turn of the century. Call for permit

Hart House photography



Features: Beautiful courtyard, grounds and Gothic style architecture Location: 7 Hart

House Circle (U of T Campus) Permit: $400 for a 2 hour photography session. No permit required if wedding is held at Hart

Mint Room Studios is a photography studio in Toronto featuring 6 different studios: Ballroom, Conservatory, Library, Lounge, White Loft, and Nest. Each room is unique in its own way, has different interior design and decor suitable for all types of photoshoots.

The Aga Khan Museum photography permit


The Aga Khan Museumis a museum of Islamic art, Iranian (Persian) art and muslim culture located at 77 Wynford Drive in Toronto. It is the first museum in the western world dedicated to Islamic art and objects. The permit fee is $325 Monday to Friday and $425 Saturday and Sunday.
