The historic cloisters offer a natural frame for high-fashion portraits. We use the rhythm of the arches to create depth and a dramatic, "dark academic" narrative.

The Knox Cloisters

To capture the true "Dark Academic" mood, we utilize the deep shadows of the stone corridors. This high-contrast lighting creates a dramatic, high-fashion narrative for your portraits.

THE CLOISTER JOURNEY

A Photographer’s Timeline for Knox College Chapel

Your wedding at Knox College Chapel will be defined by the most iconic Gothic cloisters and light-drenched stone hallways in North America. The incredible limestone courtyard and the airy, pointed-arch chapel provide a gallery that feels both historic and ethereal.

12:00 PM – Getting Ready (University Club of Toronto)

Starting your day at the University Club sets a refined, classic tone immediately. The heritage club offers elegant getting-ready spaces with large, historic windows overlooking University Avenue. The light here is clean and abundant, while the rich woodwork and antique furnishings provide a sophisticated, editorial backdrop for your morning portraits. It’s a calm, private oasis right in the heart of the city that allows us to capture those essential morning moments without the generic feel of a standard hotel room

1:30 PM – The First Look (The University Club Staircase or Front Facade)

Before we head up to the university campus, we can utilize the University Club's stunning heritage architecture for your First Look. The grand sweeping staircase inside or the classic, columned Georgian facade outside provides an incredibly polished, timeless setting to see each other for the first time, keeping the logistics incredibly simple before we jump into the vehicles.

2:30 PM – Wedding Party Portraits (The Knox College Cloisters)

Upon arriving at Knox College, we head straight for its most famous feature: the breathtaking stone cloisters. The arched walkways encircling the courtyard are an absolute photographer's dream. They act as a massive natural light modifier, blocking the harsh midday sun while allowing soft, directional light to wrap around the stone pillars. It creates deeply romantic, painting-like portraits for both the wedding party and the two of you.

4:00 PM – The Ceremony (Knox College Chapel)

The chapel at Knox College is nothing short of majestic. With its incredibly long aisle, soaring vaulted ceilings, and traditional collegiate layout, it provides a sense of gravity and grandeur that very few venues can match. I love shooting from the back of the chapel to capture the sheer scale of the space and the stunning stained-glass window above the altar. The light in here is quiet, reverent, and deeply atmospheric.

5:00 PM – The Couple's Session (The Quadrangle & Grand Staircase)

After you walk down the aisle, the guests can begin making their way back down University Avenue for cocktail hour while we have the Knox campus to ourselves. We will utilize the lush central Quadrangle and the dramatic, moody shadows of the interior gothic staircases. The architecture here is so prominent that it practically does the posing for you—every archway and stone step creates a naturally epic frame for your portraits.

6:30 PM – The Reception (University Club of Toronto - Main Dining Room)

As the evening sets in, we transition back to the warm, sophisticated atmosphere of the University Club. The Main Dining Room, with its historic fireplace, intricate moldings, and classic chandeliers, feels like an exclusive, elegant dinner party. As the natural light fades and the room’s ambient glow takes over, the space transitions perfectly into a rich, celebratory setting that looks incredibly warm and timeless on camera.

Yes, Knox College requires a pre-approved permit, and their availability is highly limited. I guide my couples through the application process early to ensure we secure access.

The Knox College Experience: From Our Couples

"Lucas was absolutely incredible to work with! Lucas took both our engagement and wedding photos which turned out amazing! The reason we chose Lucas and Olivia was not only because of the great quality of their work, but also how comfortable we felt with them from our very first meeting. Your photographer and videographer are in close quarters with you the entire day of the wedding, so having a team who are professional, but are easy going and fun is essential. This is exactly how we felt with Lucas and his team. We were married in February, so it was quite chilly outside, but Lucas and his team were champs when it came to getting the perfect shots! They also made it easy to smile while not being able to feel your toes! Their dedication to capturing all the important parts of your big day, making you feel at ease during the entire process, their unbelievable quality of work and their quick turnaround time are what really set Lucas and his team apart. We have gotten so many compliments on our wedding photos and video! Choosing Lucas and his team was one of the best decisions we made and I can’t say enough good things about him. If you have a chance to work with him take it!."
