Shangri-La Hotel Toronto Wedding Photos
Asian-inspired architectural precision, high-gloss surfaces, and soaring downtown ceilings — a wedding environment I approach with a commercial eye, treating every sightline as a compositional tool.

Urban High-Fashion: Defining the Modern Cityscape Narrative of Shangri-La Toronto

The Museum Room Skyline Reflections
The Museum Room's glass walls offer epic city views. We use specialized filters to eliminate window reflections, framing your silhouettes perfectly against the downtown skyline.
The University Avenue Podium Shot
To capture the pulse of your city wedding, we shoot from across University Avenue. Framing the couple within the hotel’s glass podium captures a high-energy, metropolitan chic vibe.

The Garden Terrace Skyscrapers
The third-floor terrace utilizes the vertical lines of the Bay Street skyscrapers. At twilight, the office tower lights provide a high-contrast, metropolitan backdrop.
AN URBAN FLOW
A Photographer’s Timeline for Shangri-La Hotel Toronto
Your wedding at the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto is a masterclass in high-fashion urbanism and Asian-inspired luxury. To truly do justice to this five-star experience, your schedule must be flawlessly paced. I build your timeline to transition smoothly from bright suite prep to the moody, opulent Museum Room, ensuring we capture sophisticated images from Lucas T Photography against those sweeping University Avenue skyline views.
11:30 AM – Getting Ready (Miraj Hammam Spa & Luxury Suite)

Starting your morning at the Shangri-La’s world-renowned Miraj Hammam Spa is an absolute game-changer, both for your stress levels and your final gallery. The spa's Middle Eastern-inspired architecture, with its intricate geometric tiling, rich wood tones, and moody ambient lighting, provides an incredible, textural contrast to the bright, modern glass of the rest of the hotel. After capturing some relaxed, editorial-style preparation shots in the spa's stunning lounges, we typically pop back up to your luxury suite. There, we use the massive floor-to-ceiling windows and pristine natural light for the final hair and makeup touches and the iconic moment you step into your dress.
1:30 PM – The First Look (The Terrace Overlooking University Avenue)

For a First Look that screams "downtown Toronto," we utilize the hotel's outdoor terrace. Standing high above the city with the sweeping, iconic leading lines of University Avenue stretching out behind you provides an epic, architectural backdrop. The contrast between your elegant wedding attire and the sleek glass and steel of the surrounding skyscrapers gives this moment an incredibly modern, cinematic scale.
2:30 PM – Couple's Portraits (Hotel Interiors & University Avenue)

Before your guests arrive, we take advantage of the hotel's stunning architectural features. The dramatic grand staircase and the opulent lobby spaces provide sophisticated indoor options. For a bit of variety, we can step right out the front doors onto University Avenue. The wide boulevards, historic iron gates of nearby Osgoode Hall, and bustling city energy allow us to capture some chic, high-fashion street-style portraits with your wedding party without ever straying far from the venue.
4:00 PM – The Ceremony (The Museum Room)

The Museum Room is an absolute showpiece for a wedding ceremony. Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and illuminated by thirteen massive Italian crystal chandeliers, the space feels incredibly grand yet intimately enclosed. The sheer amount of glass allows natural daylight to pour in, providing soft, even, and highly flattering light as you walk down the aisle. It is one of the brightest, most elegant indoor ceremony spaces in the entire city.
5:00 PM – Golden Hour Portraits (The Cityscape & Glass Reflections)
While your guests transition to cocktail hour to enjoy the Shangri-La's world-class culinary team, we take a few minutes for golden hour portraits. The late afternoon light behaves uniquely in the financial district—it bounces off the towering glass skyscrapers, creating warm, glowing, and heavily diffused pockets of light. Capturing the two of you as the golden sun reflects across the downtown architecture gives your gallery a gorgeous, metropolitan romance.
6:30 PM – The Reception (The Museum Room Flip or Queen's Park Ballroom)

As the sun sets and the city lights begin to turn on, the reception space completely transforms. Whether you are returning to a flipped Museum Room or moving into the Queen's Park Ballroom, the evening vibe at the Shangri-La is unmatched. The motorized drapes can be drawn back to reveal the illuminated Toronto skyline, bringing the glittering city right into your dinner party. The warm glow of the crystal chandeliers paired with the urban nightscape outside creates a sophisticated, high-energy atmosphere for your speeches and first dance.

The Shangri-la Hotel Experience:
From Our Couples
"We used Lucas & his associates as our wedding photographer and it was the best choice we made. Not only were they extremely professional and creative with their shots, they helped guide us during the official shoot. They’ve got a ton of cool gadgets used to elevate traditional wedding photos and an eye for the perfect shot. You can really tell they both love what they do as they took both our shot list into consideration and created their own unique ideas on the spot. If you’re a type A bride or not fully comfortable with the whole photography experience, these are your people. Throughout the evening, Lucas showed us shots and checked in on us to see if there were any additional photos we wanted. On such a nerve wracking day, both Lucas and Masood made us feel so confident, my husband now thinks he should be in GQ. Highly recommend."
