Discover the Magic of Knox College Weddings

Knox College Chapel seats 200 in a Gothic Revival sanctuary with hand-painted ceiling beams and original 1915 stained glass. I've captured ceremonies where afternoon light filters through arched windows, portraits in the ivy-covered stone courtyards, and couple sessions where the cloistered walkways create natural frames against Toronto's skyline backdrop.

1. Chapel & Courtyard – Gothic-Inspired Portraits

The chapel interiors and cloistered courtyard provide classic, dramatic settings for elegant couple and bridal portraits.

2. College Gardens – Framed Outdoor Shots

Manicured gardens and stone pathways give intimate outdoor spaces for editorial wedding photos.

3. Stone Staircases & Hallways – Indoor Detail & Editorial

The staircases and hallways create depth and symmetry, ideal for artistic portraits and wedding party shots.

The Knox Chapel (The Sanctuary)

The historic cloisters offer a natural frame for high-fashion portraits. We use the rhythm of the arches to create depth and a dramatic, "dark academic" narrative.

The Knox Cloisters

To capture the true "Dark Academic" mood, we utilize the deep shadows of the stone corridors. This high-contrast lighting creates a dramatic, high-fashion narrative for your portraits.

The Rotunda & Balcony

The college library is a hidden gem for editorial mood. We utilize the dark wood and historic shelves to create sophisticated, intellectual portraits in the heart of UofT.

The Grand Staircase

The urban energy of St. George Street provides a modern city contrast to the quiet cloisters. We use the city streetcars and university architecture for a high-fashion, metropolitan wedding vibe.

Engagement Photography: Natural Connection, Timeless Imagery

The Knox College Experience: From Our Couples

"Lucas was absolutely incredible to work with! Lucas took both our engagement and wedding photos which turned out amazing! The reason we chose Lucas and Olivia was not only because of the great quality of their work, but also how comfortable we felt with them from our very first meeting. Your photographer and videographer are in close quarters with you the entire day of the wedding, so having a team who are professional, but are easy going and fun is essential. This is exactly how we felt with Lucas and his team. We were married in February, so it was quite chilly outside, but Lucas and his team were champs when it came to getting the perfect shots! They also made it easy to smile while not being able to feel your toes! Their dedication to capturing all the important parts of your big day, making you feel at ease during the entire process, their unbelievable quality of work and their quick turnaround time are what really set Lucas and his team apart. We have gotten so many compliments on our wedding photos and video! Choosing Lucas and his team was one of the best decisions we made and I can’t say enough good things about him. If you have a chance to work with him take it!."

Knox College Wedding FAQ

1. How much does a photography permit cost at Knox College?

Effective January 2025, the fee for a 2-hour photography permit (for engagement or wedding photos without a chapel booking) is $450 (HST included). These permits are limited to a maximum group size of 12 people and are strictly subject to the college's academic schedule.

2. What is the seating capacity of the Knox College Chapel?

The historic chapel can accommodate up to 200 guests in total (approximately 150 on the main floor and 50 in the balcony). However, for comfort and visibility, a guest count of 150–170 is often recommended.

3. Are flower petals or confetti allowed at Knox College?

No. To preserve the historic grounds and architecture, the use of confetti, rice, birdseed, real flower petals, or bubbles is strictly prohibited both inside the chapel and on the exterior grounds. Violating this rule may result in additional cleaning fines.

4. Is Knox College open for weddings on Sundays?

No. Knox College is closed on Sundays and Statutory Holidays. Weddings and photography permits are typically only issued for Fridays and Saturdays, provided they do not conflict with university exams or student activities.

5. Can I bring my own officiant to Knox College?

Yes, provided they are a licensed religious official (e.g., ordained minister, priest, or rabbi) recognized by the province. Civil officiants (City Hall staff) are generally not permitted to conduct ceremonies in the chapel due to its religious designation.
